What is a PodPlay?
A PodPlay is a site-specific radio play. Audience members listen to the play while walking a specific route in the city. The plays straddle the internal world of the listener and the external community space. The PodPlays combine narrative, geography, history and music.
How does it work?
You can listen to PodPlays in three different ways:
- At home: download the file to your personal listening device: Higher Resolution (Best Quality) or Lower Resolution (Faster Download)
- On site: visit the Neworld booth and upload the file to your device from our computers.
- On site: borrow one of our listening devices. (Subject to availability, audience must leave a deposit of some sort).
Then you proceed to the starting point and press ‘play’ on your device. The PodPlay will guide you through the walk by giving you verbal instructions and cues.
Are there more PodPlays?
Yes! Neworld and PTC are teaming up with the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival to commission a quartet of PodPlays that will premiere at the 2011 PuSh Festival. Performances Friday, Saturday and Sundays between January 21 and February 6, 2011.
Relax. Listen. Have fun.
